January 16, 2017 Newsletter | GMVTA PLAYOFFS: | | CONGRATULATIONS TEAM LOGAN AND SAYER!!! The GMVTA Playoffs were held at Quail Run Racquet Club on Saturday, January 14. Schroeder Tennis Center had 3 teams participating. Terri Logan's 3.5 ladies defeated QRRC-Rau 3-2. Tim Sayer's 3.5 men defeated SRTC- Allen 5-0. Rob Voisard's 3.0 men also competed on Saturday, but came up just short of a win and finished in 2nd place. Great job to all three teams! Congratulations to everyone who participated, the club is very proud of all of the GMVTA teams! Look for photos from the event on our website and in the lobby! | | FAMILY TENNIS CHALLENGE: | CORRELL & IDDINGS WIN FAMILY TENNIS CHALLENGE!! Matt and Terry Correll are division "A" champions of the Family Tennis Challenge which took place Saturday, January 14. The Correll's defeated Stu and Natalie Milligan 8-5 in the finals. In division "B", Ben and Steve Iddings were the champions. The Iddings defeated Matt and Emma McCormick 8-2 in the finals. The Challenge also had backdraw champions. In division "A", Samir and Aria Patel defeated Colin and Rony Maalouf 8-2. In division "B", Manu Aggarwal and Ava Patel defeated Damon and Riya Patel 8-7. The club wants to thank ALL of the participants of the Family Tennis Challenge. Look for photos from this fun event on the website and in the lobby! | | GOLD STAR EVENT: | | GOLD STAR SINGLES/DOUBLES MATCH PLAY SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2017 3:00PM-5:00PM Calling all GOLD STAR players!! Come play some singles and doubles matches on a 60 foot court with the orange balls. This is a casual event to allow our Gold Star players more practice with serves, match plays, and keeping score. There will be assistant pros on the court to help supervise and parents are welcome to sit on the court sidelines to cheer on the kids. The cost will be $15/player. We are excited to see your young tennis players further develop their tennis skills! | | USTA JUNIOR TOURNAMENT: | | USTA 10 & UNDER ORANGE BALL AND GREEN BALL TOURNAMENT SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2017 3:00PM-7:00PM This is a USTA junior tournament event where your child will demonstrate their match play skills. Furthermore, your child will be able to earn points to progress to the next tennis level. The cost is $25/player.
